The Mark V Deluxe Varmintmaster is built on the newly designed Mark V Standard Short Action, a modern evolution of Roy Weatherby’s original 1964 action that remained in production until 1994 before being succeeded by the current 6-lug Standard Action. Both designs share the 6-lug bolt system, with the new Mark V action offering a shorter, streamlined version of the Standard. This Deluxe Varmintmaster showcases the classic Monte Carlo high-gloss walnut stock that defined Weatherby rifles, complete with diamond-point checkering, a rosewood forend and grip cap, and maple spacers for a timeless finish. Its field-crowned barrel carries a deep blued gloss and is threaded for brakes or suppressors. Twist rates have been modernized from 1:14 to 1:8, enabling the rifle to stabilize heavier bullets such as the 80.5 gr Berger FBT. Owners of original Varmintmasters can also take advantage of new ammunition options tailored to those rifles. The updated Mark V Standard Short Action is slightly longer than the original Varmintmaster, opening the door for future chamberings like the .308. Note that original Varmintmaster inlets and pic rails are not compatible with the new model. To distinguish between old and new versions: modern Varmintmasters feature a WY prefix in the serial number and barrels stamped with a 1:8 twist, while originals retain the 1:14 twist rate.   FEATURES
